In only a few years, we’ve managed to provide low-cost, high-quality medicines to hundreds of thousands of patients across seven African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Rwanda & Malawi).

Position Description

mPharma is looking for a dynamic individual with exceptionally high work standards to join our team as Demand Planning lead. The Demand Planning lead will be responsible for generating a forecast for all of mPharma’s facilities, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from consumer insights, key Accounts, Procurement, Sales and Finance.

Reporting to the Country Supply Chain Manager, The Demand Planning Lead will contribute to the overall planning activities of the department with a focus of analyzing customers’ historical data to optimally plan replenishment levels. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key  counterparts in the Sales 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time  horizons as part of a demand planning function;  
  • Reviews historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical  forecast models, and evaluate forecast results;  
  • Coordinates cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast  model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions; 
  • Ensures that risks to the business are escalated within business-wide category planning forums with Root cause analysis and recommendations for mitigation. 
  • Maps out demand drivers assumed in forecast & validate them against statistical and historical events,  Interact with provider engagements, operations and finance to understand demand forecast drivers, Lead forecast bias and forecast error corrective action within the categories 
  • Utilizes a collaborative and consensus approach by working with provider engagement, Customers and Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts;  Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool and support projects around forecasting. 
  • Provides input for Supply Planning in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products,  and product phase-outs. 
  • Coordinates and communicates customer action plans with supply planning. Monitor and communicate any imbalance or potential KPI miss with options to mitigate on a weekly and monthly basis. Key KPIs to monitors are Demand Forecast Accuracy, (DFA), Forecast Bias, Case Fill  Rate (CFR), Inventory, Month End Peak (MEP), Invoice Accuracy (IA), etc and any others are assigned in the course of operations. 
  • Follows through with issues and actions arising within the monthly business management cycle and ensure they are managed to completion.

  • Fluent English with excellent writing, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and ERP solutions
  •  Demonstrate strong analytical skills;   
  •  Working knowledge of software related to demand planning is preferred;  
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of S&OP and the demand planning process;  
  •  Experience managing internal communications, working cross-functionally to deliver results;  Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of  the business affecting the forecast process;   
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of  their financial and operational impacts;  
  • Experience of working in the FMCG industry with a proven track record of supply chain, demand planning and customer collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Statistics or Economics, Supply chain management, Data Science.
  • 6-8 years experience in an analytical or supply chain role in retail,  pharmaceutical/FMCG environment
  • Strong use of analytics, user research, and business cases to drive decisions and improve forecasting and Demand Planning
